Procrastinating

How to write my first post?
I was feeling quite overwhelmed as to what to do. I wanted to write the kind of stuff that would be timeless and people would read it even fifty years from now. I just did not realize that I was putting a lot of pressure on myself. I felt like in order to write really good content, I should be spending a lot of time in research and writing. I wanted every single post to be perfect. And that got me stuck in the procrastination cycle. Every time I thought about blogging or writing posts for my blog I felt discouraged because it seemed like it was such a big job that required a lot of effort.
Then I thought of the following solutions to break my procrastination cycle:
- Start writing
- Write for five minutes to get myself to start writing at least
- Read other blogs of people writing about similar subject to motivate myself
- Read other blogs of people whose writing styles were not quite perfect yet, to encourage myself
- Write my intentions for blogging
- Intend to start writing by certain time
- Everyday dedicate to spending a certain amount of time writing
- Just write the introduction to blog posts and fill out the body later
- Reward myself to start writing
I asked myself why I wanted to write in the first place? And why write about self-development? The whole point of me writing was because I would be writing about something I love. I thought what could be better than doing something I really truly love? Then I realized that I was moving away from what I wanted and was making this another job. I had to simplify the whole process and just start writing. My writing would improve with time as well.
That actually helped me overcome my procrastination. I will write a further and more detailed article about how to overcome procrastination in the future. For now I just wanted to get myself started doing something I love doing.
Sometimes trying to be perfect, we don’t even get started. It’s much better to just start on our journey no matter wherever we are right now. Do not wait for the perfect moment, perfect weather, perfect mood or perfect anything. Just take the first step and do it!
