I noticed if I kept track of how many times I was involved in gossiping, I actually was less likely to even get started. That is a good thing. That is another one of the tricks that can actually help you break a bad habit.
From my past experiments I know that when I did not speak ill about anyone, not even a tiny bit, I actually felt really good. I have not tried to consciously do that for quite a while.
I have been avoiding talking about people behind their backs in general. Sometimes though, due to previous ingrained bad habit it was hard not to. In such a case I would let the person know one way or another what I had said about them.
Tomorrow I am going to monitor myself and not gossip about anyone. I am going to watch how that affects my feelings, my mood and my day.
I think not to gossip is not going to be the toughest part. Toughest part will be how to avoid gossiping when someone else starts and wants to involve me. We’ll see. I will write down my results at the end of the day.
